Meet Our Awesome Staff
Owner & Administrator
I opened Coastal Kids in 1997 after discovering that I could not find what I was looking for in a preschool for my own children. I decided to trade in my corporate job for one I treasure every single day. I have been married to my husband Bob for almost 28 years and we now have five - yes five children! Four boys and yes I finally had a girl! Brandon is 25 years old and graduated from UC San Deigo and recently married to my amazing daughter-in-law Julia who is our Administrator's Assistant here at Coastal Kids, Adam is 22 and is getting ready to graduate from UCLA, Evan is 18 and attends college at El Camino, Ryan is 14 and a Freshman at South! Then there is Megan who is already 10 years old and is in 5th grade! She is surrounded by boys and loves every minute of it. We are very active in the community and enjoy sports (as I'm sure you can imagine with four boys)!
My entire life is dedicated to making sure that children are loved and well cared for. Which is exactly what I would want for my own children. This is how I train my staff - we love and respect every child we care for as if they were our own. I feel this is why when I have parents visit the preschool they tell me time and time again how comfortable they feel here at Coastal Kids - they feel like family. This is what we strive for and hope to accomplish every day. As you can see, my life is all about children - my own and everyone else's who gives me the honor of caring for the most important part of their life.
Director and Pre-K Teacher
Miss Beth has been with us for nearly 20 years. "Before I came to Coastal Kids I had worked at many preschools, never quite feeling that they were the place for me. I started at Coastal Kids as a teacher in the two year old room, then the three's and I am currently a Co-Director and I definitely know this is "the best place for me".
My husband, Mark and I have been married for almost 17 years and enjoy traveling and taking care of our dogs! Our kids are all grown and married and I have recently become a Grandma to Zoe who is now 6 and in 1st grade and Gavin who is 3 years old and gets to come to work with Grandma everyday. I guess this is why I enjoy what I do so much, because I still get to help raise children!
My goal at Coastal Kids is make sure that everyone is well taken care of, from the parents, to the children and our staff. All of us work together as a great team and succeed in producing well rounded, happy children. After speaking with kindergarten teachers in the area, I get great joy knowing that they tell us that "Coastal Kids" are the most socially, academically and emotionally adjusted kids they see. That means we have succeeded in our goals!

Miss Jo has worked at Coastal Kids Preschool for over 16 years! Miss Jo is one of our amazing 3 year old teachers’, she takes care of everyone’s needs and loves every child who walks in the door. She lives on a 52 foot boat with her husband, David. They have three grown daughters, one son, two grandsons, Hunter who is 11 and Easton who is 3 year old and one grandaughter, Sage who is 2. They enjoy sailing to Catalina, traveling and spending time with family and friends!
